Attribution Requirements

To help us maintain free access to Screenshot Scout, we require all Free plan users who use our screenshot API in production to add an attribution link.

Requirements

The attribution link:

  • Must be on your production site (not staging or localhost, and not on a third-party website)
  • Must be publicly accessible and viewable in browsers (do not hide it behind a login)

Implementation

Add this link on any page displaying Screenshot Scout screenshots:

<a href="https://screenshotscout.com/">Screenshots by Screenshot Scout</a>

Placement options

Place the attribution link where users can see it:

  • Near the displayed screenshots: directly below them or nearby
  • In the page footer: alongside other credits and links
  • On the About page: for apps using our screenshots behind a login

FAQs

Using Screenshot Scout in production means using screenshots rendered by Screenshot Scout on a deployed website or mobile app that is publicly accessible to users. Using the screenshots on localhost or staging, or for any purpose other than publishing them on a publicly accessible website or mobile app, does not constitute production.

Add the attribution link to your marketing website, either in the footer or on the About page. The attribution link must be on a publicly accessible page.

Add the attribution link to your app's marketing website or in your app store listing description.

If you have published the attribution link on a publicly accessible page, but our system still can't see it, please reach out to us at support@screenshotscout.com and we will do a manual override on our end.
