What does this webpage to PDF converter do?

This webpage to PDF converter saves any publicly available page on the Internet as a PDF. Once you request a PDF, we open the page in Chrome, scroll it from top to bottom so that lazy-loaded images and content load, and unpin sticky headers so they appear only once instead of on every page. Then we print the page with Chrome's print engine, the same one your browser uses when you press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac) and choose "Save as PDF", and return the PDF to you.

Because the page is printed and not captured as an image, the text in the PDF stays text. You can select it, copy it, and search it, and the links stay clickable.

Who is this website to PDF tool for?

This website to PDF tool is for those who need to save webpages as PDF on occasion, a few times a week or month. If you need to convert webpages to PDF regularly, from inside your app, script, or n8n/Make.com/Zapier automation, consider exploring Screenshot Scout, our screenshot API service. It generates PDFs too.

How to save a webpage as PDF in a few simple steps

If you need to save a webpage as PDF, follow these steps:

  1. Paste the URL of the page you need to convert.
  2. Choose the paper size and orientation. If you are in the US, leave it as "Letter"; in most other countries, choose "A4". Landscape is a good fit for wide pages and pages with large tables.
  3. Choose the layout. "Print" uses the website's print styles, the same as your browser's "Save as PDF", which often hide menus, ads, and other elements that are not needed on paper. If the print version strips out too much, or if you need the PDF to look like the website, choose "Screen".
  4. Adjust the scale and margins if needed. With normal margins, a Letter page leaves the website only about 740 pixels of width, so many websites switch to their tablet or mobile layout in the PDF. If this happens, lower the scale: at 70%, the page is laid out about 1,050 pixels wide, which is enough for many websites to show their desktop layout (some need an even lower scale). A lower scale also fits more content on each page.
  5. If you need only some of the pages, list them in the "Pages" field, for example 1-3, 5. Leave it empty to get all pages.
  6. Decide whether you need background colors and images. Leave "Background graphics" on to keep the PDF close to the original page, or turn it off to save ink when printing.
  7. Decide whether you want to block cookie banners, chat widgets, and ads. A cookie banner that is not blocked is printed once, over the content of the first page, so we suggest toggling at least the "Block cookie banners" and "Block chat widgets" toggles.
  8. Click the "Convert to PDF" button.

Because the whole page is scrolled from top to bottom before printing, generating a single PDF can take anywhere between 5 and 30 seconds, so be patient.

Once the PDF is ready, you will see the preview in the browser frame on the right side (below the options on mobile). You can then either download the PDF to your device, copy the PDF URL, or open the PDF in a new tab. Note that if you decide to use the provided PDF URL, it will be accessible for only 4 hours, after which the PDF will be deleted and the URL will stop working.

Yes. We do not claim ownership or impose any restrictions on how you use the PDFs made with this tool, although please note that it is still your responsibility to use them lawfully, for a legitimate purpose, and to abide by the copyrights, website terms of service, and privacy policies of the websites you save as PDF.

By default, the tool uses the print layout, the same one your browser uses when you press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac) and choose "Save as PDF". Yes. We do not turn the page into an image. We print it with Chrome's print engine, so the text in the PDF stays text: you can select it, copy it, and search it, and the links stay clickable.
